Moving times for Kalamazoo Underpinned by a Multi-Million Pound Capital Investment Programme

Kalamazoo Secure Solutions Ltd, the leading provider of secure printed documents and business solutions, has announced the company's relocation from its existing site in Northfield, Birmingham to new premises in nearby Redditch and a multi-million pound capital investment programme.

The move comes as a direct result of the existing site no longer being viable for Kalamazoo's ambitious business plans and growth strategy and is a key step in the strategic development of the business.

Robert Whiteside chief executive officer of Kalamazoo's parent company Adare, commented: "It has been clear for some time now that Kalamazoo's existing premises no longer suit the operational and future strategic needs of the business or its customers."

"The decision to move involved a rigorous process which included identifying what Kalamazoo's future requirements were from an operational, customer and employee perspective."

Whiteside explained: "We have a great team at Kalamazoo with huge experience and we wanted to make sure that their views were fully considered and factored into the move. Following these discussions we are implementing various transport initiatives to make the move as smooth as possible for everyone."

Due to the nature of Kalamazoo's business, site security of the new 62,000sqft premises was of paramount importance. This is now being further upgraded via a major capital expenditure programme in readiness for the move to ensure Kalamazoo retains its long-standing compliance with stringent security standards as set by the Association for Payment Clearing Services (APACS).

As an APACS approved supplier Kalamazoo's site has to ensure complete security of printed goods and data on behalf of its customers which will be aided by the installation of a sophisticated round-the-clock CCTV and security monitoring system, advanced data integrity technology and high levels of internal security.

Whiteside continues: "The relocation will give Kalamazoo the secure, modern and highly efficient operation and the ideal business environment required to respond to the challenges of an ever changing market place, and offer an unrivalled level of service to meet and exceed customer expectations".

As part of the move, Kalamazoo is planning to make further investment in technology and equipment to complement its recent move into digitally printed secure products and Whiteside confirmed that they have just placed an order for a brand new state-of-the-art Miyakoshi 8 Colour Techno-E press, which in conjunction with the fit-out of the new site amounts to over £2.5million of capital investment. Coupled with the more streamlined production layout and efficiencies of the new site, the new investment will significantly increase the output capacity and improve turnaround times, quality and customer service.

All 127 staff at the site have been fully involved and consulted in the process leading to the decision to move to the new site and everyone is fully committed to the company's plans and shares the excitement of this major commitment by Adare in Kalamazoo Secure Solutions.

Whiteside concludes: "Kalamazoo is a truly global brand and the clear leader and innovator in its markets, it is therefore important to invest in the future of the business to ensure this position is maintained and strengthened by providing the business with the very best technologies, production capabilities and the ultimate production facilities to position the business at the forefront of its markets and emphasises our commitment to delivering the best solutions to suit customer requirements now and in the future."
